BIOGRAPHY
Originally from New York, Tamar Zakheim graduated Cum Laude from Barnard College and holds a Master’s Degree in Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She earned a Master of Science in Health Sciences and her Physician Associate degree from George Washington University in 2012. Tamar has worked as a PA in clinical settings ever since.
Tamar has extensive experience in adult and college outpatient primary care. Prior to joining the Ackerly McBride Group, she worked in the Student Health Center at American University in Washington, DC, for five years. Before that, she practiced Adult Internal Medicine for several years at Potomac Physician Associates in Bethesda, MD.
Tamar is a passionate believer in treating the whole patient and strives to provide comprehensive and evidence-based urgent and primary care with an emphasis on root causes. Tamar recognizes the role that lifestyle factors like diet, exercise, sleep, and stress play in health and disease, and she works collaboratively with her patients to understand their motivations and challenges in achieving their health goals.
Outside of her clinical practice, Tamar has served on medical committees for her children’s school as well as for a charitable support group in her community. She lives in Maryland with her husband and five children.
I invest in building trusting relationships with my patients that empower them to be informed advocates for living their best lives.
