BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Grischkan is thrilled to join the Ackerly McBride Medical Group as a primary care physician and bring his deep commitment to providing high-quality and compassionate care to patients. Dr. Grischkan believes that developing long-term, meaningful relationships with patients and working together to achieve healthcare goals is critical to being a primary care doctor. He has provided care to complex patients in a variety of settings, including hospital-based care, and is looking forward to partnering with patients to prevent the very medical conditions that he often treated in the hospital. He prides himself on being a trusted and responsive clinician for his patients.
Dr. Grischkan grew up in Cleveland, OH, where he spent many weekends during his childhood rounding in the hospital with his father, also a physician, and developed a passion for medicine. Dr. Grischkan graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Michigan and obtained his medical degree with distinction in research from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, where he was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his internal medicine training at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was concurrently a clinical fellow at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Grischkan was selected to participate in the National Clinician Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania and during this time Dr. Grischkan provided care to patients at Penn Medicine. Dr. Grischkan’s research in health policy and healthcare innovation has appeared in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and Annals of Internal Medicine, as well as the Wall Street Journal and STAT News.
Dr. Grischkan is board certified in internal medicine. As a primary care physician, Dr. Grischkan focuses on preventative care and helping patients navigate medical issues that may arise. He also maintains a special interest in cancer screening, prevention and survivorship. In addition to his clinical work as a primary care clinician, Dr. Grischkan has become a leader in the field of cancer survivorship, where he has developed comprehensive care models for patients with cancer.
Dr. Grischkan lives in Bethesda with his wife and their three-year-old labrador retriever/beagle mix.
